COOKED: One Final Push
About:
COOKED is a bold, messy, and tender short film about queer friendship, surrogacy, and survival. It follows Cyrus, a Black gay man crushed by workplace pressures, and Sunni, his unapologetic Indian lesbian best friend, who has agreed to carry his baby. What starts as an act of love spirals into chaos, exposing the humour, conflict, and resilience of chosen family.
At a time when queer stories — especially those centring people of colour — are still rare, COOKED pushes against the margins. It doesn’t explain sexuality; it assumes it, allowing space for a story about love, responsibility, and the emotional minefield of queer surrogacy.
This project is being made by a passionate team of emerging and award-winning creatives whose work has already been showcased at festivals like BFI Flare. With your support, we can bring this necessary story to screen and start the conversations that matter.
